My time with VI4 Art-in-Residence

During summer 2025, I was blessed with the opportunity of working with science journalist, health officials, and other artists creating health journal covers that are to be published in Cell Press completely within the next year.

Created with Adobe illustrator, photoshop, and InDesign.

The cover I designed exemplifies a futuristic factory setup where nanotechnology us used to create healthy, vibrant vines. At the center, a machine releases strong twisting green plants from a machine. the vines are full of bright green leaves, showing signs of active growth and energy. The machine itself has bright white glow that symbolizes the moment technology sparks life. in this cover, the plant is pictured as a gateway to natures renewal through advanced science.

The cover I created represents a metaphorical yet literal take on the idea of Genome folding and the interstage of mitosis. Due to the fact that scientists are still unsure of how the cells will remember each other after the stage of mitosis, I created a bird-eye like perspective of the interaction between cell, machine, and observer.
